Quality Control Technician

Job Function:

The Quality Control Technician will perform moderately complex tasks to develop, maintain, analyze and improve components & process within compliance to the Brunk Quality System to ensure manufactured components and/or assemblies meet customer specification.

Job Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

         

§  Complete documented training and fully understand all SOP’s / Work Instructions that apply to inspector duties as deemed by Quality Manager.

§  Responsible for the technical inspection of manufactured products.

§  Assist and conduct first article inspections, capability and statistical studies, gauge R&R, PPAP, validation, doe studies, correlation studies and APQP submission requirements. 

§  Perform calibrations for all Metrology tools.

§  Interface with Customers, Vendors, and other Departments and Divisions.

§  Conduct data collection and reporting needs/requirements.

§  Assist in new tooling review and coordination of new product quality requirements. 

§  Assist with the investigation of internal and customer quality concerns.

§  Compare parts with specified dimensions using appropriate measuring equipment. 

§  Perform floor, set-up, and final inspections. 

§  Set-up and maintain part records in accordance with title 21 CFR part 820. 

§  Create, develop and maintain “in process inspection procedures”.

§  Assist with the development of quality system procedures.

§  Assist with quality technical questions.

§  Inspect parts with Gauge Blocks, Pin Gauges, Calipers, Micrometers, Comparators, Microscopes, Indicators, Granite Plates and Height Gauges, as indicated in the Quality Plan.

§  Make judgement on the inspected part and give approval if part is acceptable.

§  Use PC and automation inspection equipment.

§  Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

§  Train Inspectors in the use of visual and dimensional inspection techniques on new components to ensure compliance to customer specifications throughout Brunk 5-stage gate process to design transfer.

§  Implement & coach proper statistical process control standards into new development or legacy projects.

§  Utilize basic knowledge of Minitab, JMP or Measurelink Software.

§  Act as a team member for corrective and preventative actions.

§  Document and lead rework/sorting operations.

§  Assist with the investigation / verification of nonconforming product.

§  Ensure proper quality records and documents are provided to document control in accordance with established quality management system. 

§  Update component validation workbooks with current information for each phase of the process.

§  Coordinate the requisition of quality tools, supplies, equipment or services.

§  Submit test coupons for preapproval of material when needed.

§  Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.

§  Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Brunk’s safety and security procedures. 

§  Other related duties as assigned.

 Job Skills:

§  Basic programming OGP Vision Systems, Measuremind 3D and Zone 3 Software.

§  Basic analytics OGP Data Output with the use of Smart Profile or Smart Fit Software.

·         Basic program Mitutoyo CMM with Geomeasure Software.

·         Execute data compilation activities with the use of the Brunk  FAI / verification/ validation process forms.

·         Basic to intermediate programming &  statistical interpretation of Pro-Link / QC Calc / Office Buddy Software

·         Capable of data analysis with Mini-Tab, JMP, Or Measurelink Software

·         Operate Micrometers, Indicators, Calipers, Height Gages, and Optical Comparators.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft AX

·         Educated in 21 CFR 820 regulatory requirements & ISO13485.

·         Force testing equipment

·         Mitutoyo Profilometer

Education and Experience:

·         Complete training to Brunk Quality System.

·         High School Diploma or equivalent.

·         ISO13485 experience strongly preferred.

·         ASQ certification or minimum 2 year’s quality or inspection experience required, 3 – 5 years or minimum of 3 years Press Room experience preferred.

·         Previous hands-on experience in manufacturing required.

·         Statistical data analysis experience a plus.

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, and Power Point required

·         Previous experience in medical device preferred.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a standing or sitting position for 8 hours/day and must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds with control.  The employee must have a natural or corrected visual acuity of 20/40 in one eye. The employee must be able maintain dexterity for extended periods of time and also use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.  The employee must be able to travel between departments and other manufacturing locations. Domestic and international travel may be occasionally required.

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently around large industrial machinery, and will be required to work near moving mechanical parts that create a moderately high noise level. The employee will come into contact with grinding dust, industrial lubricants and solvents. The overall atmosphere is a combination of an office and manufacturing setting.

Protective Clothing Required:

·         Must Wear Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes and Hearing Protection while in the manufacturing areas.
